Plant Manager, Flexographic Printing

Classification: Full-Time, Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. (Flexibility required)

The Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing all daily operations of the plant from production and manufacturing to ensuring company policies and procedures are followed. This individual will develop and execute on processes that maximize stewardship, safety, quality and productivity.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, direct and run optimum day-to-day operations to exceed customer expectations
  • Manage production, assessing capacity and resources on a continuous basis, making adjustments as needed
  • Responsible for production output, product quality and on-time shipping
  • Implement strategies in alignment with company initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus to production staff
  • Monitor operations and coordinate corrective actions when required
  • Assist with the recruitment, management, development and motivation of production staff
  • Commit to and help enforce plant policies and procedures, ex. safety

General Requirements:

  • Minimum of three to five years of related printing industry plant management experience; must have knowledge of printing industry standard equipment and technical expertise
  • Knowledge of labels & flexible packaging, including, pressure sensitive labels, shrink sleeves and beverage wraps
  • Mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot equipment and processes
  • Extensive knowledge of lean manufacturing, raw materials, production processes, quality control, and other techniques used to effectively manufacture and distribute materials and products
  • Knowledge of, and experience with, OSHA laws and regulations
  • Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills; ability to create accountability and to lead by example
  • Excellent leadership, analytical, and written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of, and ability to, train, instruct, and measure individual ability
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills and ability to work with a wide range of professions and personalities
  • Proven ability to understand mathematical applications, ex. measurement, logic, etc.
  • Experience working with bar code scanning systems preferred, i.e. Visual Warehouse
  • Excellent command of the English language; ability to effectively read and write
  • Exceptional time management and detail-oriented
  • Valid driver’s license

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and push/roll 300 – 800 pounds with pallet jack
  • Good manual dexterity for cutting, grasping, guiding, pressing, pulling, pushing, rolling, typing, turning knobs
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time on varied surfaces and reach, twist, bend and stretch when required
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and acute depth perception
  • Ability to decipher colors
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment screening, including drug testing
